Elegant
MACHINERY is, without a doubt, one of the most popular synthpop
bands ever to grow out of Sweden and Scandinavia. Influenced by
electronic bands like Depeche Mode, Human League and Yazoo, the band
started out in 1988 with a goal to make music the way it was made in
the early 80's: pop music based on synthesizers.
Since the release of the debut album Degraded
Faces in 1991, and with the 1993 album Shattered Grounds and the
1996 album Yesterday Man, elegant MACHINERY has grown in popularity
and managed to maintain a faithful group of fans all over the world.
elegant MACHINERY toured extensively during the
mid 90's, and had a couple of chart climbers in Sweden and several
performances on Swedish radio and television during the same period.
The biggest success though, was when the single Process managed to
climb as high as number 5 on the official Spanish chart back in
1992.
elegant MACHINERY has always been a very popular
band on stage, which was proven in 1998 when they won the price as
"best live-act 1997" on SEMA (Swedish alternative music
awards).
Even though things seemed to go in the right
direction, the band decided to split due to various reasons during
the winter of 1998/99.
In early 2005, after requests from fans all over
the world, the members of elegant MACHINERY started to make music
together again. After some successful concerts throughout 2005 and
2006, in South America, Mexico as well as in Europe, elegant
MACHINERY is now working on their forthcoming album.
Today elegant MACHINERY is not only influenced by
the music of the early 80's, but also by indie and electro acts like
Goldfrapp, IAMX, Ladytron, The Knife, Placebo, The Bravery, The
Killers, Gabriel & Dresden, Keane etc. Trying to combine the
electronic scene of the 80's with the music of today, elegant
MACHINERY is definately making music for the future, as well as for
the past.
